This winter, which hasnt even arrived officially, is already turning into a monster. Got up this morning to discover about 1/10th of an inch of ice everywhere, courtesy of freezing rain that continued to fall. For those of you who live in the sunny climes, freezing rain happens when the temp in the clouds is above 32, but the ground is below thar. The rain hits the ground and turns into a sheet of glare ice, about as slippery as a glass bottle thats got a coating of oil on it. Red and I usually cross the street (the sidewalk is on the other side) and walk around the block first thing. We did cross the street, which had been treated, but the sidewalk was awful, so we came back and let him go in the front yard. Ugh. Im happy to say that the ground temp is rising so the ice will soon be gone. But wed rather have 10 inches of snow than 1/4 inch of ice. One good thing is that we have not lost power... .so far, praise the Lord.
