Thought for the Day: Miracles are looked upon either with a suspiciously with a doubtful eye, cautiously with a both a hopeful but questionable eye or receptively with a believing eye. Surely, some real miracles have been cast aside because of unbelief; while on the other hand, events that were not miracles have been deemed to be so when they were not. As followers of Jesus Christ, we do not want to mesmerized by a charlatan with tricks up his or her sleeve; neither do we want to miss the work of God among us. When we consider the subject of the miraculous, we gravitate toward the extraordinary, unexpected and astonishing. A miracle after all is supposed to be something that is accomplished by God and can only be done by God with no natural explanation; and, the miracle brings glory to God. There are miracles that occur somewhat regularly that we see but take them with a ho-hum approach. These are miracles that meet all the criteria of what a miracle should be. They are accomplished by God and can only be accomplished by God. When we think about it, we see that these miracles are extraordinary, unexpected and astonishing; and they bring glory to God. These miracles are the changed lives of sinners. When someone who is dead set on not following Christ repents, believes the gospel and has their life transformed it is certainly a miracle. There is no natural explanation for it. It is extraordinary, unexpected and astonishing. There is no explanation for such a turnaround except that God did it. When these life-changing miracles happen, without a doubt they bring glory to God. We may see a miracle where someone is healed or some other astonishing thing; but let’s not fail to see the miracle in every conversion of every sinner. Let’s not fail to see the miracle of the prodigal son or daughter of God who has come home. Let’s not fail to see the miracle staring at you in the mirror. Scripture for the Day: Galatians 1:21-24 Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia, and I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Judea that are in Christ; they only heard it said, ‘The one who formerly was persecuting us is now proclaiming the faith he once tried to destroy.’ And they glorified God because of me. Let Us Pray: Lord, thank you for the miracle that you have done in my own life; even when I sought to run the other way, you chased me down to do it. Bring glory to Thyself, O Lord. Amen
