Thoughts about boundaries for your consideration: A boundary is - TopicsExpress

Thoughts about boundaries for your consideration: A boundary is a definite place where your responsibility ends and another person’s begins. It stops you from doing things for others that they should do for themselves. A boundary also prevents you from rescuing someone from the consequences of their behaviour that they need to experience in order to grow. When you practice Reiki regularly, you will become more sensitive to the feelings of others and more aware that not everyone you share Reiki with will share your beliefs. I choose to follow the Platinum Rule rather than the Golden Rule, which is “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you – but do it in the manner which they prefer”. One of the ethical behaviours that I encourage every Reiki person to consider is to obtain permission before sharing Reiki with anyone, whether this is sending to people in the same room, distant healing, children or animals. When working with children, I suggest that it is wise to obtain the parent’s permission as well as that of the child being treated. Apart from being good manners, this is also good sense so that you do not inadvertently cross any boundaries. If you do not know another person’s belief system, their wishes, hopes, dreams, or even why they created a certain illness, do you really believe that you have the right to decide on their behalf to fix whatever you see as being broken? Reiki is an incredibly powerful tool but as the Spiderman movie says “With great power comes great responsibility” which is why I believe that one of these responsibilities for the ethical Reiki practitioner is to ask permission of the intended recipient before sending Reiki. May you discern with compassion
