Thoughts about problem . . . I felt so exhausted today. Along with my wife’s visiting sister and family from Los Angeles we attended the funeral service of their nephew’s daughter. It was such an untimely death for a 17 year teenage kid. When the father eulogized his daughter, he broke it down in two parts, the unfathomable fact why this child was taken away from them. The second part he delved on the accomplishments of his daughter summed up on her creativity, so talented perhaps borderline genius, a writer in her own right, very articulate with her words as he read a few of her posts on FB. She paints and a music lover creating her own mixes some of which can be seen on “YouTube.” A very liberal minded youngster who believed in the struggles of the LGBT, to recognize their rights to marry their kind. The father ended his eulogy requesting everyone not to dwell on her death rather on her kindness, love and compassion. Just as I listened intently, I couldn’t part myself with the thought, what is next for this family; their only child was taken away from them, a problem of different dimension as they moved on with life without her, the problem of dealing with grief, something that is not easy. Yes, for some it might come easy while to others it can be lifetime problem to deal with. Too, my mind is racing thinking about that religious song I learned in catechism. “Be Not Afraid . . . “ You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety, though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands, and all will understand, You shall see the face of God and live. Be not afraid, I go before you always, Come follow Me, and I shall give you rest. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown. If you walk amidst the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the powr of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you, through it all Be not afraid, I go before you always, Come follow Me, and I shall give you rest. Blessed are your poor, for the Kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh. And if wicked men insult and hate you, all because of Me, blessed, blessed are you! Be not afraid, I go before you always, Come follow Me, and I shall give you rest. Those of us who mourned with the family were all replete with tears. Here is my take on life’s problem(s) . . . and let me start with quotable quotes I gathered . . . “Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.” Soren Kierkegaard “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Pablo Picasso “Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” Ricky Martin “When you begin to worry, go find something to do. Get busy being a blessing to someone; do something fruitful. Talking about your problem or sitting alone, thinking about it, does no good; it serves only to make you miserable. Above all else, remember that worrying is totally useless. Worrying will not solve your problem.” Joyce Meyer “If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliché that must have been left behind in the Sixties, thats his problem. Love and peace are eternal.” John Lennon “Money wont buy happiness, but it will pay the salaries of a large research staff to study the problem.” Bill Vaughan Getting deeper into the issue of problem read on and I am sure you will be inspired after reading the essay. “A life of success is not a life free of problems. A life of success is a life in which you acknowledge, accept and deal with the problems and challenges. Achievement comes not from avoiding the problems. On the contrary, achievement comes from diving into problems and transforming them into positive, meaningful value. Yes, there are plenty of negative influences in life over which you have no control. However, you have great control over what you think and what you do, so make positive, productive use of that ability. Convince yourself, without the slightest doubt, that it is possible for you to move forward. Then act on your convictions, and do whatever is necessary to make real progress. It will not be easy, but when all is said and done, easy is not really what you’re after. What you’re after is a life of meaning, fulfillment, joy and substance. Instead of running or hiding from the problems, face them with confidence and positive expectations. You are worthy of the best, so work through every challenge and live the very best life you can envision.” Cheers! Joegar
