Threshold end all their albums either with an understated finale or a gigantic epic. Siren Sky is only six minutes long but is as gigantic an epic as their past closers twice as long. And it is now one of the greatest songs released this entire year. Every single note is perfect, brilliantly shining with hope, inspiration, and a sense of spiritual epiphany and renewal impending on the horizon. The lyrics are generally cryptic but refer in several obvious cases to such renewal, and come across as deeply life-affirming and prayerful. One wonders where Pete Morten comes from to be able to write these brilliant lyrics every single time he has written some. Because Pete Morten is one of the best things that has ever happened to Threshold. And here is the proof.
