Time for more cosplay etiquette! Tip 3: Its been scientifically proven that humans instinctively want to squeeze cute things. Im not making that up; there have been studies. One of my favorite memories from Comicpalooza last year is getting a hug from a very excited 3-year-old dressed as Hellboy. Hugs are great . . . if you ASK FIRST. Similarly, if you want to be in a photo with a cosplayer and would like to put your arm around them or pose in some way that requires the two of you to touch, ASK FIRST. Everyone has a different degree of personal bubble. Some people dont like to be touched at all. If you ask and are turned down, dont get upset. It literally isnt you; its them. However, its your job to respect their boundaries and bodily autonomy. And it should go without saying, but for Gods sake, dont grope someone or do the tacky hover hands move. Ever. Keep your hands well away from the danger zone. (This one is also just general convention etiquette because it applies to celebrities and guests as well as cosplayers.)
