Tis the Season!!! Hello everyone, I am happy to say that “Project Broken Wheel” will be in full force again this year to give children their wish of a bicycle come true this holiday season. We are looking for volunteers to help refurbish bicycles at Twin River Casino (see dates below). Even if you are not mechanically inclined we’ll need volunteers to clean the bikes, pump tires, register information – every little bit helps. Please share with your staff, friends and family and let me know if you can donate a half hour to three hours of your time. I can attest that each of the children and organizations that receive these bicycles are very thankful for all our efforts. Currently the program has donated 557 bicycles and we look forward to breaking the 600 biycles donation mark this year!! “Project Broken Wheel” refurbishes bicycles given to us from communities across Rhode Island and local Police Departments. The donated bikes get seat replacements, tires repaired, chains fixed, reflectors placed on tires/front & back of bike, and even touch up paint and some TLC and the bikes look close to brand new with a holiday bow. Over the course of the 6 years the program donated 557 bicycles to local children’s organizations (Manville Family Literacy Center, Lincoln Adopt-A-Family, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Institure for the Study & Practice of Non-Violence, Martin Luther King Family Center, Children & Family Services, Saint Lucy Heart, Salve Regina University Scholarship Program & local underprivileged families in the area. This year we are looking to donate 50 bicycles to children during the holiday season!! Sunday December 7th from 1pm-4pm (Watch Patriots afterwards!!) Monday December 8th from 5pm-8pm Thursday December 11th from 5pm-8pm Monday December 15th from 5pm-8pm Thanks in advance, and a happy & healthy holiday season to you and your family Cheers!! Frank
