To Add Salt or Not To Add Salt. Did you know that the recommended daily intake (RDI) for Sodium is between 460-920mg/day with an upper limit of 2300mg/day? These days with so many preservatives being added to our foods, before we even buy them, an average person is consuming well over their upper daily limit. Some of the most common foods high in sodium include: soy sauce (1 teaspoon = ~280mg), Cured Meats i.e. bacon (1 slice = ~194mg) and sun dried tomatoes (one piece = ~2094mg). As you can see from the above items it is quite easy to eat over your RDI of Sodium in one sitting. So before you pick up that salt shaker to add some more salt to your dinner, ask yourself, do I really need it?
