To possess the sun and moon All was bright. It was a captivating blood red beam of light which lifted my best friend up into the air eating away at her soul. She was being chosen. She was too special for the dark to resist, and now the darkness was draining the last ounce of well being out of her. Her head twisted painfully as the light hung her their in the black of night by only the strings of the master puppeteer, the devil. She choked and gagged as the evil devoured her last bit of love straight out of her chest, entering through her mouth forcing its self down her throat, and grasping her heart overpowering the soul like millions of parasites. She screamed such a terrifying scream of terror, millions of tiny voices screaming in unison out of just one mouth. Her eyes were shut tight so she couldn’t see the horror in my eyes as I watched my best friend be eaten inside out. With the last bit of light in her heart she could only get two words out. She opened her eyes, what once was bright hazel were now almost completely black. It was painful for her to say the words I would’ve been too shocked to think of. “Run. Now.” It was the determination and desperation in her voice that convinced me to leave her there in agony, alone with only evil to accompany her. So I ran. I ran as fast as I could through the forest greens around me. I ran so fast the twigs and moss and whatever else was down there didn’t even have a chance to make a crunch as my feet danced above them. I ran so fast that my feet left the ground. I was still running, but I was running in the moist, fresh air. I knew my feet had left the damp soil of earth. I could feel it. The moon lifted me. It carried me faster, faster. Higher, higher until I brushed the highest branches of the tallest trees and I sped past them. Then I slowed. There it was again that terrible scream that shivered down my spine and then back up again. I turned around in the air and peeked over the tree tops to see the single beam of blood red light I had seen just minutes ago, now was a tiny strand of glowing red descending from the heavens above. The strand grew bigger, and bigger, until a burst of wind hit my face as an explosion took place, blinding light overpowered the sky. And then… All was dark.
