To those of us brought up in a culture highly focused on external measures of self-worth, Alice - concert pianist, mother, widow, Holocaust survivor and, as captured in this Academy Award winning 38 minute film at age 109, more mentally vibrant than most of us have ever been at any time in our lives, has a lot of life experience and wisdom, perhaps a lot to teach us. This incredible woman can help us understand the importance of developing an inner stable sense of identity that moves through time, regardless of location, and irrespective of circumstance. In short, Alice can help one understand the essential qualities of a survivor - not only in a physical sense, but mentally and spiritually.
