Today 21st Sep in history of Ghana football GFA appoints Le Roy as Black Stars coach Exactly 8 years today Claude Le Roy was officially engaged as coach of the Black Stars Claude Le Roy signed a two-year renewable deal with the Ghana Football Association on Thursday 21st September, 2006 The Frenchman then 58 year-old became the new coach of Ghanas senior national team, the Black Stars, as a replacement for Ratomir Dukovic, after the latter had resigned. The Ghana Football Association named the former DR Congo coach as the new manager for the Black Stars after an interview process where the Frenchman beat local manager, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio to the Black Stars job. Claude Le Roys best feat with the Black Stars was a third place finish in the 2008 African Cup of Nations (AFCON). However to the surprise of Ghanaians, he resigned in May 8, 2008 after two years citing personal reasons. His first game was a 1-0 away win over Japan in Yokohama and his last game was a 2-1 loss to Mexico in USA. Le Roy took charge of 18 games, won 11, drew 3 and lost 4. Before taking over the Ghana job, he had previously won the African Cup of Nations in 1988 with Cameroon and he is currently the coach of Congo Brazavaille #local sport update #
