Today, I had the pleasure of paying tribute to 2MC FM Breakfast - TopicsExpress

Today, I had the pleasure of paying tribute to 2MC FM Breakfast Announcer Mark Strachan on achieving 25 years with the local radio station. Speaking in Parliament I thanked Mark for not only his 25 years presenting the breakfast program, but also for his extensive community and charity work. When you wake up with Mark, it’s always a positive and lively welcome to the day complemented with great music, plenty of comedy and loads of information particularly about what is happening in our local community. Mark is a major part of the Mid North Coast community through his constant involvement with local community groups regularly giving up his own time to either host or speak at charity and not for profit organisations. As an active member of the Port Macquarie Surf Life Saving Club, over the years Mark has helped in countless surf rescues and has been a Life Guard Captain. Mark is a major supporter of the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital and has been a patron in previous years. Just two weeks ago at the annual Goat Race at the Comboyne Show, Mark came first for the second year in a row. If he wins next year there is talk he will change his name to Makybe Diva! Mark has been recognised by local Rotary Clubs for his community work and was last year awarded a Paul Harris Fellow live on air, much to his surprise. Mark Strachan is a very humble man who does not do these things for self-promotion but because he is a generous and big-hearted person who truly believes in doing what is right and trying to help and support the community he has lived in over the past 25 years. With the support of his wife Deb and son Alex, Mark Strachan has demonstrated his true character and that is someone who is very talented, generous of time, always looking out for others and who will always go above and beyond for his community. My sincerest congratulations to you Mark Strachan on your 25 years at 2MC and on behalf of our community thank you – we hope you can continue entertaining us for another 25 years.
