Today I hold up a mythical mirror to the Israel/Palestine conflict - TopicsExpress

Today I hold up a mythical mirror to the Israel/Palestine conflict to reflect some symbolic shards that are stuck inside of our soul. One from Israels own holy book, another even older, with a lesson maybe even more profound: The human: an idiotic monkey with a narcissist domineering twist unlike any other animal in the world. He will plunder, pillage and kill his neighbors, all under the guise of nobility, claiming to combat barbarity. The civilized men are born under the sign of Caïn, meaning were fratricidal: we kill our own blood. This awful quality has been especially prevalent among the Semitic people to which we owe the roots of our civilization. Ever since the mythic epic of Gilgamesh building his wall around the city of Uruk, the production of our own megalomania and the subjugation and enslavement of the neighbor has been the overarching symbol under which civilization has built its empire. 4500 years later the Barbarians are still building walls fooling themselves into believing theyre the ones fighting the barbarians. The wall works both ways: its keeps people in as much as it keeps others out. Gilgamesh built his through the institution of slavery: wishing to make his subjects nothing but their labor, making them into robots (from Czech robota: ‘forced labour), all the while claiming to protect them from the evils outside. The gods were insulted by his dehumanizing projects, depriving men of their freedom. So they sent Enkidu, a wild man, who could match Gilgamesh strength. After they fought, in recognizing each others strength, they became the best of friends, going on an epic adventure to slay Humbaba, the beast who guarded the forest of the Gods, and visit Utnapishtim (Noah) in order to learn about the secret of eternal life. But, after 4500 years of cultural history, the idiots are still fighting over plots of land, resenting each other the light in eachs eyes, instead of going to the forest of the Gods, leaving their walled cities behind, and learning about immortality from the man who saved all the plants and animals from the coming deluge... The writing has been on the wall ever since we have learned to write, but people are too blind to read.
