Today I learnt that British scientist Richard Dawkins (arguably the worlds most influential atheist) has the highest number of followers in India...well nothing wrong with that but I wonder how many Indians actually know about our Indian scientists and their contributions to the world of science... The problem is perhaps deep rooted...we Indians have an obsession with phoren goods and people...1200 years of foreign rule (by Muslims and the British) have damaged our psyche... We love branded clothes but feel inferior to wear little known Indian brands...Indian traditional music is almost non existent in todays films and wannabies like Honey Singh are the new rage...Sunny Leone is the next big thing in Bollywood...why? Simply cos we love white skin...we take tours to exotic foreign locations during vacations but hardly know any beautiful villages in our respective states and the list will go on...add to that, our students are ashamed of their own history and culture and we want to be a superpower by 2020...dream on, dreamers!!!
