Today, January 9th, is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. I cannot thank our Gilbert Officers, and County Deputy Sheriff Officers, for all they do for our town and area. We never want to see or deal with an officer unless we need help. We are quick to judge, criticize, and poke fun at them, unless we need them. I try to think of myself in their position, being spit upon, not knowing if someone is going for a gun to kill me, or the rude attitude mostly displayed upon contact. Most of all, I cannot imagine the disrespect they face constantly. Sure, there are some officers that should have never gone into the field. That holds true with any profession. For those that risk their lives daily, not knowing if they will go home to their families, try to smile and be professional when they have been treated so horribly, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel secure knowing you are here to protect us. I am so thankful we live in a nation where we can still depend upon you to come to our aid. There are not enough words to express how much I appreciate all of you. I salute you, today, and every day! THANK YOU!
