Today Tonight Tomorrow You and I are summoned. Meet your hurts, your sorrows, your heartaches, your struggles, your failures, your bitter tears, your frustrations, your malicious fiends, the Voice utters. Meet your valley of the shadow of death -- the hypocrisy of some, the provoking tendencies of others, the disappointment in an idol, the sour turn of a once blissful life stage the Voice urges. You and I are beckoned to meet and greet each stab in the back, each lash of a venomous tongue, each devastating medical diagnosis, each blocked path, each frustrating interaction, each unjust decision . . . not with apathy but with trust Because the Voice sings, Be still and know that I am God (Ps 46:10). Because of the Voice it is written, The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still (Ex 14:14). Therefore, may an attitude of active, genuine, and practical surrender be the how do you do? you and I employ at each meeting, each introduction of a new trial! It is a surrendered heart that will enable us to spread our wings and fly above our harsh tribulations to the heavenly dwellings in Christ. And in surrender, you and I will be able to see our Everests through the eyes of Jesus. There, we will witness how each obstacle loses its power to distress us.
