Today during my visit to inspect the file in BDA through RTI process i had a chance to speak to Engineer Town Planning and when enquired about on what basis is BDA granting permission to construct apts in senstive zones without following the Zone Regulation and how areas marked as sensitive zones or protected zones in RMP 2015 are converted in to industrial zones and on what basis is sub committee formed to look into those matters are granting permission, to my surprise the engineer says that there is no such guideline that sub committee should record on what basis it grants permission. He stated that developers approach BDA for permission and they blindly grant permission. This is the lacuna which has to be fixed in the RMP 2035. I sense that BDA will not have looked into it and fixed the lacuna. If such things continue by 2020 entire green belt and sensitive zones will disappear in Bangalore. The primary role of MPC which has been constituted after huge cry and uproar need to first look into these facts and fix the same . Later they should look into the RMP 2035 and plan development of CDP for Bengaluru. MPC primary role should also be to protect Lakes, water bodies, heritage sites , archeological sites.
