Today ended our 8 week girls summer program. In those 8 weeks it has really showed me that our girls need proper teaching and guidance. When we leave out our homes we are a reflection of our home teaching, and our parents. Before we walk out the door we must do self evaluation on, Am I representing my home and parents well. If you have to think, guess, or dont know then that means teaching needs to be in place. WORG goals is to help young ladies boost their self esteem, respect of self and others, being positive leaders, make good decisions, be a great role model in your community, identifying unhealthy relationships, and realizing what they want to be in life. We cant keep rewarding bad attitudes before we teach them values and responsibility. We want girls to have fun in the program but they have to work toward incentives. We cant just keep living life just for now, we must teach them what will help them in the real world, and in the real world it is not just handed to you. The key to achieving those traits is first you must recognize a change needs to take place, second you must want to change your situation, and last you must take the opportunity to put in the work to change. One thing we must understand that respect is not given it is earned. Parents we can sit around and complain about the youth in this city about the lack of discipline and respect they display but when it is accepted in the household it will be displayed in the streets. Parents we must go the distance to invest in our daughters. Women of Refined Gold, Inc. will continue to focus on investing in our ladies ages 9-17 in the city of Montgomery. If you are interested in allowing your daughters to be apart of our monthly workshops and upcoming mentoring programs please send a letter of interest to info@womenofrefinedgold or contact Tsharin Moncrief @ 334-538-1435.
