Today is GIVE TO THE MAX! We are raising money to help fund the cuts giving to us by Ramsey County. Here is a letter from one of our clients about this Dear Supporter, Just a few weeks ago, Tasks Unlimited received a significant and surprising blow. After more than 20 years of supporting our organization, Ramsey County voted to cut $113,000 in annual funding towards both the Tasks Lodge and JOB$ programs. Though we were only informed of the County’s intentions two days before the vote, a group of Tasks clients and staff gathered to lobby and to better understand why our funding was in jeopardy. We were all disappointed to find that we would not be given a chance to defend our organization and that the Board of Commissioners had already made their decision. I believe that Ramsey County has made a serious mistake. By cutting funding toTasks Unlimited they are destabilizing the lives of many hard working people who struggle with persistent mental illness, people just like me. As a client of Tasks for over ten years, they helped me find consistent and long-term employment when beforehand it looked like a vanishing dream. Tasks also helped me find stable housing in a lodge of supportive peers. I know for a fact that Tasks has helped so many others of diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds who suffer the difficulties of chronic mental illness. With this new financial need, we are forced to rely even more on our amazing network of supporters in the hope that Tasks can continue to provide the comprehensive services that it has in the past.
