Today is Thanksgiving and we had a wonderful day with family and friends. There was soooooo MUCH food, laughter and love. As I write this late at night, I am laying on the couch in our beautiful home, the fire is glowing on a cold night and I am basking in the love of my friends and family. I have also spent this week contemplating true Thanksgiving to God for His blessings and mercy shown to me. I read a post from a friend who said that Thanksgiving was an American holiday. I wrote him back and said, yes, it is, but Thanksgiving is a universal emotion that we all at one time or another experience. As I lay here thanking God, He turned my mind to the less fortunate here and around the world. There is so much suffering and pain that really shouldnt be. Why it is, I do not know and when I get to heaven, the first question I will ask God will be why people had to suffer. I am sharing this video of iconic photos from over the years of children who have starved. My intention is NOT to make you feel guilty. It is only to bring awareness and hopefully encourage you to action. We are all used to saying that we will pray for the poor around the world who are suffering. And that is a good thing because I know that prayer works. I also know that it is not enough to just have faith that people will not suffer. The Scriptures tell us that Faith without works is dead. We must also put our faith into action. What can I do? you may ask. There are many things that come to mind. But since you may not be able to travel halfway across the world, you can help others who are able to do so. In is season of Thanksgiving, I would like to challenge you to do something very simple. Please find a charity you trust...Operation Blessing, Samaritans Purse, Orphans Promise, World Vision are a few that I have supported and know to be wise stewards of the funds entrusted to them. And then, please make a donation to show that you have put your faith into action. This is the purest form of love. For a simple act of kindness is more powerful than a thousand intentions of goodness. I thank you in advance and I know these poor children around the world will thank you, too. I trust you and your family experience love during this blessed season.
