Today is the 8th day of Av. The 9th of Av is when we commemorate the destruction of both Temples in Jerusalem. Israel had fallen from G-d and became a pagan and decadent people who committed many abominations. Those abominations that were committed in the land are the reason why G-d sent the Babylonians in to take Israel into captivity leaving the land desolate. This is called "The abomination of desolation" because the land was desolate because of the abominations that were being done there. Daniel the prophet understood this and was shown that this would be repeated again in 70 CE. (The Roman Diaspora) Yeshua also spoke of the abomination of desolation in Matthew 24:15 It seems as if many Bible scholars see these things happening in our day and age. Those Bible scholars along with many others are unknowingly involved in the exact same idolatry of ancient Israel. So what is the difference between our society today and Israel during its kingdom years of old?
