Today is the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula, a devastating injury women and girls endure from prolonged childbirth typically without maternal health care. Two million women worldwide live with fistula, and every year another 50,000 to 100,000 women suffer the injury during childbirth because they lacked skilled care. Many girls who are forced into early marriages, which often result in early pregnancies, are not physically ready to carry or deliver children and must live with fistula for the rest of their lives. Lets continue to improve access to maternal health care in remote villages as well as overcrowded cities worldwide, and work to decrease early, unwanted pregnancies and violence. #EndFistula
