Today is the last day to comment on the Constrictor Rule. Even if you dont like my snakes, consider if they were coming for your dog or cat! Science has shown that none of these animals can survive outside the southern tip of Florida. A national restriction on the transportation of these animals will do nothing to help the situation in Florida. Felita Davis Reed and I have already done shows where we couldnt take certain animals because of this law, even though it was only thirty minutes up the road. Now they are trying to restrict other species we own. We truly enjoy introducing children to these amazing animals, and it would be a shame to exclude our most impressive species merely because there is a state line we would have to cross. If you read the comments, already posted, the only ones supporting this law are residents of Florida, where the problem already exists. Making it a felony for me to take a snake into North Carolina will NEVER help the problem in Florida. The Animal Rights groups who are pushing this legislation using faulty science, media scare tactics, and humans general dislike for these animals wont stop here. The president of one such organization has stated he would be pleased if all pets are eliminated. Whether you like snakes or not, please speak out against senseless and ineffective legislation before it is too late. Our elected officials have much more serious issues they should be focusing on.
