When I was in courtship with my wife, I was wondering why she was not like me. I had not read any book on temperaments and I was oblivious of the fact that we were supposed to be different. I quarreled with her repeatedly until the book by Tim and Beverly delivered me. You will have opposite temperaments and that would not be a good reason to break-up! She has to be different from you! What would this world be like if everybody were like you? Boring! You don’t need another you! You need somebody different from you to balance you and be a helpmeet! That’s why you are attracted to him or her in the first place because opposite attracts. But the very source of attraction becomes a source of issues later on, and if not well handled, what has endeared you to each other becomes what drives apart eventually! 3.The question of sentiments You don’t stay in a relationship because of sentiments. Marriage is a covenant and therefore cannot be built on materials of sentiments. You stay in a relationship because of conviction. You don’t marry out of pity. Don’t turn yourself into an emotional nurse trying to solve people’s problems that you don’t know how they started. You are not Jesus Christ, so you don’t need to die for anybody. You cannot become a Revelation for a Genesis you knew nothing about!
