Tomorrow I pay homage to the families of my fallen brothers and sisters. Im participating in an Afghanistan Memorial Vigil alongside the families of the fallen. There were many Canadian soldiers who fought for our country and gave up their lives. There were also many American soldiers who lost their lives working hand in hand with our troops. All of those men and women are heroes. I stayed in Camp Nathan Smith for parts of my tour. It was named after Pte. Nathan Lloyd Smith, a Nova Scotian soldier whos family will be honoured tomorrow. Nathan was among the first killed in Afghanistan in a friendly fire incident. Some of those killed overseas werent even born here, but were so proud to call themselves Canadian they fought to protect our (their) country. Tomorrow, while youre going about your day, take a second to think about those who thought so much about all of us, they gave up everything for it. They say a true soldier fights not because he hates whats in front of him, but because he loves whats behind him. youtube/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo
