Tomorrow United Against Police Terror will protest along with Ayotzinapa at 5:30, I would like everyone in the group to strongly consider joining them if possible. The video below shows how protesters for the Ferguson cause in SF also marched with those of Ayotzinapa. It also shows a pretty hilarious wipeout by one of the police officers. The point is the two groups worked together to have their voices heard. Let us all show our support and solidarity tomorrow. https://facebook/events/320284811500984/321464351383030 --- I was about to post this but thought I better caveat the post with this: In the video you see a lot of people taunting and belittling the police. I want you to know that by posting this video I dont condone that. Not every cop is a bad racist person but the system they are a part of does make every cop dangerous, especially to black and brown. However I would never allow my anger, no matter how justified, make me forget that the person behind the badge is a human. We want justice but lets get that justice with class and dignity never compromising our own humanity to get it. What makes me understand what this feels like is the fact that I am a black man in America. Just about everyday I have to walk around with this stigma that racist, fearful people created of me. They fear me so they put me in the category of a criminal when I am not. So when I think of the corrupt system that most cops work under I understand how you can be apart of something that is not really who you are. It doesnt mean I trust them anymore than I can throw them but because I have walked more than a few million miles in those shoes I refuse to dehumanize them. Just food for thought.
