Tomorrows Community Calendar Events! November 9 Orange County Democratic Women will sponsor a panel discussion, 2-4 p.m. at the Chester Senior Center, called Orange County 2020 Vision, We Will Be Ready? Five area experts will discuss Orange Countys preparedness for the current shifts in the region which will impact residents in the next few years: Orange County Planning Commissioner Dave Church; President Nancy Proyect of the Orange County Citizens Foundation; Director Susan Hawvermale of Tourism for Orange County; Assemblyman James Skoufis; and Chairman Helen Ullrich of the Board of Directors, SUNY Orange. The event is free and open to the public, and people are encouraged to attend. After the presentation, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions. Donations of nonperishable food and personal care items will be collected during the Salute to Veterans from 12-5 p.m. at the Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown. In addition, cards and coloring pages will be available for anyone who would like to send a message to our troops through the Operation Gratitude program. The items – such as baby food, bread and muffin mixes, dry or hot cereal, canned or dry fruit, granola, instant formula, jelly and jam, noodles, canned nuts, 100 percent canned or boxed juice, peanut butter, powdered milk, pudding, rice, salad dressing and soup will be accepted will be collected and distributed as part of the Orange Library Associations OrangeREADS Unbroken project. Food items will be donated to the Orange County Veterans Food Pantry in Montgomery. Expired food items will not be accepted.
