Tonight at Hibbleton Gallery, we continue our film series with the monumental and moving Oscar-winning documentary The Times Of Harvey Milk (1984), which is about the first openly gay politician to be elected to public office. 7:30pm. FREE! Series curator Steve Elkins will discuss the many incredible figures from the San Francisco GLBT civil rights movement whom he met and collaborated with over the many years of making his own film (The Reach of Resonance) including Jane Cleland and Dan Nicoletta, whose photographs of Harvey Milk are featured prominently in The Times Of Harvey Milk. Nicoletta was played by Lucas Grabeel in Gus Van Sant’s Academy award-winning film “Milk,” (starring Sean Penn) while Nicoletta himself played Carl Carlson (the last person to see Milk alive before his assassination). Steve will also show a short film he made about the AB101 riot in San Francisco which ended with the California State Building in flames. youtube/watch?v=Jet-Ubwk5l8
