Tonight, we mourn with the Florida Highway Patrol. Colonel Edmonson was informed that Trooper Chelsea Renee Richard of the Florida Highway Patrol, along with a tow truck driver, was killed today. Trooper Richard, a nine-year veteran of the FHP, was working a crash scene when another multi-car crash happened, causing the driver of pick-up truck to veer onto the shoulder, striking Trooper Richard, the tow truck operator, and another person. Trooper Richard leaves behind a four-year-old son. The Louisiana State Police extends our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Trooper Richard, Colonel David Brierton and the entire Florida Highway Patrol.
