Took a long (2 hour) critical meandering drive through PF today. Even though I live here, and have for the better part of my 48 years, I dont always explore. Driving through the neighborhood I grew up in (Cape Cod Ws) I saw that so many of the homes were beautifully kept, while others were in total disrepair. There is a home on Washington that has trees growing in the gutters and not one intact shingle on the roof. And apparently someone lives there. Ash Street Co-ops...amazingly well kept as usual. Most co-ops, even the rentals, looking pretty good. I have lived in and spent time in all and am happy to see improvements continue to be made. Eastgate was a bit of a surprise. I havent been back there in a year or so and didnt find it scary or ghetto. There were many well kept homes, some non-occupied/boarded, and plenty of what I call under-kept. (Mine falls into that category, as I could stand a good weed-pulling/trimming). I also ran across a wedding! In the green space between two homes on Apache, a beautiful couple was posing for photos as several dozen looked on. I received a smile and a wave from some guests who were more than happy to let me pass. (Not a single corner drug dealer in sight, btw.) Disclaimer...I went on this journey to try to get a sense of the horror and disgust that many have expressed on this page recently. I found PF to be in as good, or better, condition than many of the surrounding suburbs I toured. We have serious problems in PF. That is un-deniable. We are not, and cannot be, hopeless. Peace. :)
