Trail fact of the day! Were getting closer and closer to National Trails Day! Heres a spot you might want to try exploring: Crater Lake, a National Park located in southern Oregon. Crater Lake is 1,943 feet deep. That makes it the deepest lake in the United States, and the ninth deepest lake in the world! Contrary to popular belief, this lake was not created by the impact of a crater, but rather was formed from the caving in of a volcano. It is also home to 90 miles of hiking trails! Be careful if you decide to go hiking in the winter, Crater Lake can receive as much as 44 feet of snow! (TravelOregonAskOR, May 2013) Crater Lake not in your area?
