Training Application: Its not to make fun of or dis regard - TopicsExpress

Training Application: Its not to make fun of or dis regard people just because they may not be training correctly or as hard as you however applying yourself correctly in line with your goals with help you to save a heap of time, stay motivated and be training with an intention. I have witnessed a lot of People in the gym of late with zero training application. If you want to be a fighter train like a fighter. If you want to be a body builder train like a body builder. The key is in your programme. Having the correct exercises specific to a muscle group or movement is valuable. Then being able to understand why you are doing it and what muscle groups your working is also valuable. Correct reps and sets, rest periods and what needs to be achieved in the outcome of your session are massively important to working your body correctly. If you are failing in these areas results simply will be hindered! Another point comes down to intensity of your exercise. There are too many people taking prolonged breaks during their training and not achieving the desired affects or utilising the correct energy systems. This seems to be another issue. The list goes on but you can see the point. So lets offer a solution: Review your goals? Write it! create a plan Consider rest between exercises What you want to feel like when you have finished? How intense you want the programme to be (this may change between high and low load days) Why are you in the gym in the first place? Exercise list and order with some type of overload Theory! Its not always easy to push yourself hard and some people do not know their limits. Often clients explain that they have hired me in the first place to help with these areas. Not everyone has a coach or a PT but general learning and understanding of training application shouldnt be hard to understand. You replicate what you want to be and that may take some time and research. You can always learn from those around you. Learning is free. Consider a top level fight such as George St. Pierre of the UFC He will have a specialist camp set up with coaches that control and plan for everything he needs. His training will be detailed and well planned out. Every time he trains he knows how he NEEDS to apply himself to achieve the outcome, e.g to become faster, stronger, increase his flexibility. All components to being a better mixed martial artist. At this level GSP would often have camps in Canada, France and Asia. Ok so you may not be a pro fighter but the point is you set up and train for what you want to become at the level of acceptance you are at. A dude in the gym is telling me that hes a fighter whilst sat down with a 12kg dumbbell doing a single arm bicep curl before moving into calf raises? The overall picture, is this going to benefit him when in a fighting environment? No intention No direction No application With the above story my suggestion would be to use a more cross fit style approach and focus on explosive output, plyo metrics, weight training, body weight exercises, speed power and movement drills mixed with core and resistance training! A base of strength conditioning. Many people feel comfort in saying they belong to a gym and they have a plan/idea when really they dont and their application is wrong! Sometimes to get to the positives you have to go through the negatives. I hope you see my point and I hope this post helps! -ADT
