Tribe gets Lo’s Q-Cup award QUEENSLAND Cup 2014 leading try-scorer Garry Lo has given his Rookie of the Year award to his Moge Andaklamp clan in Mt Hagen. Lo said he did it as a sign of gratitude to his relatives for supporting him in his rugby league career. The 21-year-old SP PNG Hunters winger invited church leaders to witness the presentation in an acknowledgement of his faith which he said helped him in his successful debut season. Lo said he wanted to inspire other youth and children in his community to strive to be the best in their chosen sport the way he had in his. “I still have a lot to achieve in my sport but this award is for you for supporting me so far,” Lo said. Moge Andaklamp councilor John Pukup commended Lo for his performances and for coming back to acknowledge his community. Pentecostal Church Pastor Paul Pora said Lo’s example was something that would be remembered for a long time. Pora said Lo’s success was a direct result of his commitment, dedication, professionalism and willingness to learn from his coaches, trainers and teammates. He said sports was a key area that could help educate, develop and change a person completely. “Have a goal, work hard to attain it – and be proud of it,” Pora said.
