True story: Potential, desire, and comfort :) I recently saw a video of a really young African boy prodigy who would go to the local dump of his village looking for old scraps/damaged electronics and then would take them home and begin to invent and mess around with them, and it reminded me of some of the similar things (in a much lesser scale) that I used to do when I was in DR, out of pure necessity, free time, and creativity. For example: when I was about 7 or 8 my family got our nice first color TV for the living room (we were ballin!), but we were only able to enjoy like maybe 6 local channels, there was no cable or possibility of getting cable ( to put it in ways that you can understand, when I was in DR nobody in my neighborhood had computers, internet, cable, electricity would come and go A LOT, one neighbor had a BetaMax (now, that dude was ballin! Lol), and another neighbor had a phone at her house that we would use whenever my mom would call us from PR, and that was my neighborhood :) Anyways, since I wanted to make the channels that we did have look better (or at least good lol), I decided to invent create my own antenna out of metal hangers, wires, wood, and a needle. And to everyones amazement, it worked! And not only did the channels we already had looked better, we also were able to pick up like 6 new channels, and one of them showed the Flintstones! I felt like a genius at the time lol Fast forward 3 to 4 years later, and by age 11 I ended up coming to live in Miami with my mom and 2 sisters, and my status of living (comfort wise) was a lot better (we had hot water, always on electricity, a phone at home, a bigger color TV, and air conditioner, even though I missed my grandma , aunts, and cousins.) My mom was an awesome single mom and took great care of us, and one day when she was finally able to afford it decided to put basic cable in the apartment, my sisters and I were in Heaven! (But maybe in the 2nd Heaven because were only getting basic cable, and that meant like 21 channels including basic channels, and no Nickelodeon, cartoon network, or MTV like some of our friends had in there houses, but either way we were grateful and excited!) Now when the cable man came to put cable in the apartment, I followed the dude around checking to see everything he did just out of straight up curiosity, and saw that he had a device that looked like a palm radio that he connected to the little hole where the cable that connected to the TV was, and as we moved a button as if looking for a frequency, it started making a funny sound, and after like 5 minutes we had basic cable and everyone was happy, but I wanted to make them happier lol :) OK,, after the guy left, I ran to the closet were my mom had this old school radio and I took it apart with a screwdriver, took off the antenna, placed a wire where the antenna was and tied up a needle to the end of the wire and stock it in the same little cable hole and started messing with the tuning wheel till I finally started hearing that same funny sound the cable guy had reached 3 hours before, and after 5 minutes, voilà! We had extended cable with all of the channels we didnt have before plus HBO also! (If youre thinking Raf that was an illegal move you pulled back then all I can say is that was 11 and GOD wanted me to enjoy watching Jonny Quest on Cartoon Network lol) Ok, now to end this ;) Why did I share 2 of my childhood stories in this long ass post? Is to tell you this: that many times comfort is the enemy of you unleashing your unlimited potential, and that we here in America (also Europe and other places) are TOO DAMN COMFORTABLE (I mean mentally more than even physically) to innovate or pioneer/invent anything and release all the awesomeness with got inside. So what should we do? Wake the heck up! Stir ourselves up! Get out of our mental and spiritual comfort zones and begin to do something and thinking outside the box. I dont wanna preach at you, but get your ass up! And let HOLY SPIRIT show you what youre capable of! I love you, you freakin pioneering innovative GENIUS!!! :) -Rafael Garcia
