Truth Matters..... Waterboarding and other forms of torture have been shown time and again to not work. When placed into a terrifying, painful position like that, people will say almost anything to get out of it – and not necessarily the truth. Sometimes, they’ll tell the interrogators things they couldn’t possibly know. As a way to extract information, it is effectively useless. An experienced interrogator wrote about the anger he felt when reading the Senate torture report when he realized the CIA had been so stupid as to think torture would work. The report also shows that abuse was an epic failure as an intelligence-gathering technique. It didn’t prevent any attacks and or gain information that couldn’t have been gained legally through rapport-based interrogations. As for the claim that torture produced information that led the United States to Bin Laden: no, wrong, it didn’t. At the same time, abuse elicited bogus information that hindered counterterrorism efforts. It’s impossible to ignore the fact that no one who has undergone waterboarding comes to Cheney’s conclusion that it isn’t torture. Jesse Ventura is a tough guy, a Navy SEAL and a retired pro wrestler, he talks about his experience undergoing the act as if he were reliving it. The emotion is still there after years.
