Trying to make a list of the latest foreign food trends in Seoul - TopicsExpress

Trying to make a list of the latest foreign food trends in Seoul and decent places to get them. A lot of these foods werent readily available, but now they are. Ill be updating this post with your suggestions. [American BBQ]: Places that serves nothing but American style BBQ. -Linus BBQ (Itaewon) - the king. Alabama style ribs, brisket, pulled pork, pulled pork/brisket sandwiches, fried mac and cheese, etc -Beale Street (Hongdae) - not bad, but not great, especially since there are better options now. -Wildfire (Itaewon) - havent been there personally, but have heard good things. Unfortunately (or fortunately for me cuz theyll be closer to me) they are moving locations and going to Itaewon. [Pulled pork / brisket]: A lot of places are adding pulled pork to their menu, though they might not be a BBQ joint outright. -Leftcoast burger - pulled pork sliders were very legit. -Napkin please (서래마을) - Grilled cheese w/ pulled pork is on the menu, -Southside parlor has both legit brisket and pulled pork sandwiches -Burger B - they have pulled pork nachos on their menu. Could be better -Silence of the lamb - I saw they had a pulled pork sandwich on their menu, but heard it wasnt really American style. [Mac and Cheese]: Years ago, it was hard to find decent mac and cheese at any restaurant. -Firebell (Between Seolleung and Hanti station) - Mac and cheese burger FTW. -Napkin please (서래마을) - great mac and cheese here. They also have mac and joe which is a mixture of mac and cheese with sloppy joe sauce. -Leftcoast burger (Itaewon) - they have fried mac and cheese balls as well as baked mac and cheese -Sin bin (Itaewon) - they have baked mac and cheese I believe and its on special on one of their days (Ill have to find the info later) -Linus BBQ (Itaewon) - although already mentioned under the American BBQ list, they do make good mac and cheese balls with a little bit of jalapeno inside. [Philly Cheesesteaks]: -Michelle Cheesesteak (Childrens grand park) - still my favorite place for cheesesteaks, though I havent been there for awhile so I dont know how its changed. Ironically, the original cheesesteak on their menu isnt the one you want to order, the one that resembles a cheesesteak is under a different name (youll have to ask the owner). Other great sandwiches like the BBQ steak with bacon and cheese -Napkin please (서래마을) - probably my second favorite cheesesteak place. Very messy cheesesteaks with the option of white American, provolone or cheez whiz (which doesnt seem to actually be cheese whiz but cheese sauce) -Rye post (Itaewon) - another solid cheesesteak place, very good. [Lamb]: Quality lamb places have sprung up in Seoul. -Silence of the Lamb (Kyeongridan) - lamb burgers, awesome lamb stew, lamb ciabatta, Mediterranean and Mongolian style lamb as well. -Braai republic (Itaewon) - my first time trying South African food and I thought it was great. They even have lamb meat pies! Cant comment on authenticity since Ive never been to South Africa. Regardless, I really liked the lamb. [Kimchi fusion stuff]: Vatos were the first ones to bring kimchi fries to Korea and many places have followed with their own version. I saw kimchi fries at a few random places, but now cant seem to remember where. -Vatos (Itaewon, Sinsa, Apgujeong) - the original kimchi fries, very tasty. -Coreanos (Apgujeong) - they have excellent fries and nachos with kimchi and pork -Firebell - heard they have a kimchi burger, but cant comment on it as Ive never tried it. ... more to be added later.
