Tuesday 1-14-14 Well Jake had a peaceful day. He is actually interacting with us. He has a lot of fleim that he needs to cough up, this is a result of that tube that was ran down his throat for him to receive assisting breathing and oxygen. It really tore up his mouth and esophagus lining. Now with the trachea in place when he coughs up this fleim it comes out of the opening of the trachea. This stuff has to be suctioned away. Throughout the day he has put two and two together and when he sees it coming he gives you the evil eye. He is able to communicate he does not like that thing. As well as the thing they use to swab out his mouth he will clinch his teeth and not allow them to get it past those teeth. Sometimes when he wakes up and sees Leo he starts crying, Leo assures him that he is not mad at Jake because of what has happened. Leo assures him it was an accident. The nurse had him transferred from his big boy bed to a bed that turns into a chair. This allows him to sit upright, he is seat belted in so he will not fall out. Of course when he is sitting in this and has his feet on the foot rest his knees are still sticking way up in the air. So I decided to sit at the foot of the chair and allow Jake to rest his feet on my thighs so he could really stretch them out. He could cough up the fleim really well in this position and also seemed to sleep well in it. He was in it a total of 4 hours today, each hour he was fluffed from his right side or his left side so that his butt would not get tired. At one point he was in his chair and was actually snoreing. He reminded me of OLD KING COAL, the merry old soal. Jake was sitting on his large thrown like chair, resting peacefully. He did so very well today. When the nurses returned him back to the big boy chair, they use a back board to move him, someone asked that he help by moving him self, and she said he actually was able to help them out. The nurse also got him to give her a thumbs up and to show her two fingers. It has been a great day for all. Thank you for your prayers and support. Erin arrived today, she brought home cooked food from Nina as well as my spoiled dog Bubba. Erin and I located a trailer park we could park the 5th wheeler it is located on Wyoming and Zuni. This location could be noise but it affordable. So sometime in the near future Leo will return to the valley to get the trailer. So things are going great for us in so many ways. One very happy moma! But I have to let everyone know it was so very hard leaving the hospital tonight, as Jake waved goodbye to us as we walked out of his room. It still makes me cry one and a half hours later.
