Turnout - 63,62 percent. i) this figure is inflated due to large numbers of older voters who have passed away still being on the voter lists. One area of Piraeus had hundreds of people on the voter list who were born in 1900. ii) a lot of people did not vote. Lets see what reasons they gave. It is unlikely to be that all the parties were the same. More likely - that they feel it would not change things. That can be either out of cynicism, which does not lend itself to collective mobilisation but to retreating into private life. Or it can be somewhat more combative. An opinion poll from memory last September had 70 percent of people thinking Syriza would in the next election, but 70 percent thinking that the incoming government would make little difference. There is a long way to go to turn this electoral victory of the Right into the kind of political gains and social transformation which permanent and really advance our side.
