Twelve years ago, America was struck with tragedy. Innocent American citizens left for work that morning, never to return home. First responders were dispatched from communities far and wide, heading full speed towards the unknown, unbeknownst to many, it was unfortunately their final call. Today, we honor the courageous souls that have perished in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania, for they gave the ultimate sacrifice. The memories remain imprinted on our minds- tales of fear and fright, but more importantly, stories of extreme heroism. Though September 11 filled our lives with tragedy and despair, we must remember those we lost that day. Most importantly, we should not let those tragic events define who we are. Instead, we must commemorate and honor the legacy of those lost, honor the families who share their memories, and live as they would have wanted us to live. America and her people united as one following those horrific events, and we refused to let our values and rights be subjected to cowardly injustice. God bless America.
