Two little girls in pigtails sitting in front of their parent’s stereo holding an album cover and singing along with the bullfrogs and butterflies “This is the day that the Lord has made, not like tomorrow or yesterday…” A tall, gangly youth stands outside the doorway peering in with puzzled amusement captivated while her mother readies herself for work with praises “This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made that the Lord has made…” Three grown women kneeling around the still bed of the one who taught them with tear stained cheeks and hushed voices a lullaby while she leaves “This is the day that the Lord has made…” Two weary colleagues standing together in the corridor each embracing the other and the day “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad” The author quiets himself for inspiration pen and ink a millennium ago knowing not that his words would follow throughout the life of a stranger “This is the day which the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
