Two possible strategies... from race control.......... SUI-1, followed by SUI-2, are heading East towards Northern Italy. They fly high (above 5000 meters) and fast, and SUI-1 have already logged nearly 300 km. This strategy looks like a winning one, but the teams are heading towards a possible thunderstorm area, and after Italy, towards Croatia, where it is forbidden to land (and besides political problems the crews would have no result). All others go South, and even South-South-East for the Spanish and the Poles, who found some speed (between 15 and 25 km/hour). Course projections at 30 hours show that they should reach the South of Italy, after a long flight over the Meditteranean. But nothing is certain: we all remember the surprise strategies invented by Vincent Leys during former editions of the GB, and the long sleepless nights we spent, incapable of going to bed without seeing the outcome of the race. So, make sure you have cookies and drinks near to your computer, and stay tuned!
