Two very interesting and two very different sides on one of our favourite subjects Name: Stephan__________ Message: Sir John – we cruised with you in Alaska on the Miracle for what was one of our best cruises ever and your sense of humor and comic timing was one of the highlights. Now that I have patted you firmly on the back may I bring up the subject of dress code. Hear me out John would you. My wife and I have 7 cruises with Carnival since 2009 and sorry to have to admit on a public forum but we cruise other lines too John and here comes my point. We have just completed a 10 day cruise on the Seven Seas Mariner which is considered a luxury cruise ship. I was therefore surprised and very pleased to see that on this cruise of 10 days there was only one formal night! I may remind you that this is a 10 day cruise on a 5 star cruise line. Even on formal night their dress code is that passengers can dress per the Elegant Casual dress code or opt for a more formal choice of clothing including gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies; tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits with tie for gentlemen. John I own my own business that employs 180 people and could be considered successful but it comes with much stress and when I am stressed I am usually dressed in a suit. Do you get my drift, do you see where I am going? I associate my cruises with no stress and no stress means I am relaxed and relaxed means I am in jeans and a polo shirt. So on the Seven Seas Mariner on a 10 day cruise there was one formal night yet on my Breeze cruise on 6/12 which is an eight day there are 2 elegant nights on Carnival, the Fun Ships. I love cruising and want to cruise more but cruises mean no stress and for me having to dress as I do at work is not what I want to do. Thank you for listening John. and then this one Name: Rosalyn Message: On elegant night during our Dream cruise I watched 2 ladies walk straight past the maître d in jeans and open toe flip flop shoes. Nothing was done to stop them. Dress codes are pointless on Carnival. As a platinum vip passenger with three other family members also platinum I am disgusted at how Carnival is OK to let things like this happen and standards slip. I am dressed and so are my family in formal wear so why wont the Maitre D send these people who refuse to Lido to eat. I called my PVP_____________ and he told me I should write to you about this. Elegant night should be elegant night otherwise why bother saying it is answer me that!!!!! Interesting comments…………….associating a suit with stress………….fascinating. Over to you for your discussion cheers
