U-9 takes 2nd Place in Indiana Governors Cup! It was an unpredictable race in Madison, Indiana on the 4th of July weekend. U-9 Team RedDOT presents Spirit of Qatar started the weekend off by qualifying as second fastest on the water. After a 2nd Place finish in round one of elimination heats, we felt pretty good about our momentum- the Ohio River had other ideas. Soon the winds increased and made the Ohio River rougher than many could remember it ever being. Jon soon found out the hard way how rough the water truly was at the end of the first corner as pounding water broke the braces of our rear wing, weakening it and eventually causing it to break away. However, the U-9 was able to finish its second heat to continue on to the third round. After the hull returned to the pits, it was a scramble to install a new set of fairings and wing to make the next heat but we were up to the task. With a 2nd Place finish in the third elimination, we looked forward to the Final Heat. Our resolve was rewarded with a 2nd Place finish in the Indiana Governors cup! We would like to thank our always, very hospitable host/sponsor Bellos Pizza. Owners Kevin and Tammy Hockensmith always go out of their way to provide us with great food and the best spirit and enthusiasm a race team could ever want. We look forward to them joining us in Detroit next weekend as they root us on, in the APBA Gold Cup!
