UP CINEMA PRESENTS PILING OBRANG VIDYO 10 Interschool Film Competition DEADLINE IS EXTENDED UNTIL DECEMBER 16, 2013! MECHANICS 1. The competition is open to all bona fide students of a College / University / Film School of AY 2013-2014 and graduates of AY 2012-2013. 2. All entries should be shot on VIDEO. Entries shot on film will not be accepted. 3. Entries should have been made on or beyond January 2013. 4. The competition has three (3) categories: Narrative, Experimental, and Documentary. Live action or animated films are both allowed. 5. Maximum length of entries in the Narrative category is limited to 15 minutes, 7 minutes in the Experimental category, and 20 minutes in the Documentary category inclusive of both OBB and CBB. There is no minimum length for entries. 6. Interested participants must pre-register online first. Entries must be submitted in a short brown envelope (labeled with the TITLE, FILMMAKER/S NAME/S, CATEGORY, and TOTAL RUNNING TIME) a) One (1) DVD copy of the film (In DVD format and preferably, without a menu) b) One (1) separate disc containing the .AVI and .MOV copy of the film. Note: Subtitles are optional. c.) Two (2) photocopies of any proof of enrollment of the filmmaker/s. Graduates must present 2 photocopies of their proof of previous enrollment. d.) Entry fee 8. Filmmakers are required to send an e-mail to upcinema.org@gmail with the subject “POV10 (Last name, Initials) Requirements” e.g. “POV10 (Campos, FMG) Requirements” on or before 11:59pm of November 22, 2013. The following should be attached in the message: i) Duly accomplished registration form with conforme (mediafire/view/ro6qdnnk1jn61yj/POV10_CONFORME). ii) A one page synopsis of the film in English or Filipino. The synopsis is limited to a maximum of 300 words. iii) Complete list of the cast and production crew. iv) Two (2) 5”x 7” hi-resolution film stills in JPEG format. v) 11”x 17” hi-resolution poster in JPEG format. 9. Entry fee for early bird submissions sent on or before November 29 is P100. Regular entry fee is P150. 10. Deadline of submission of entries is December 16, 2013. Finalists per category will be chosen by a Selection Committee composed of members of UP Cinema together with an independent body. Entries with cast or crew members that are from UP Cinema will immediately be disqualified. 12. There will be 10 finalists for the Narrative Category, 3 finalists for the Experimental, and 3 finalists for the Documentary category. The Selection Committee reserves the right to award the finalist status to any number of entries, less or more than the allotted slots. 13. Official Entries will compete for the following awards: BEST NARRATIVE FILM Php 7,000 worth of prizes, plus trophy & certificate BEST EXPERIMENTAL FILM Php 5,000 worth of prizes, plus trophy & certificate BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM Php 5,000 worth of prizes, plus trophy & certificate VIEWERS CHOICE (Narrative, Experimental, and Documentary) Trophy and certificate CINEMASTERS CHOICE Trophy and Certificate CITATIONS FOR (Narrative): Best Direction Best Production Design Best Performance Best Screenplay Best Cinematography Best Sound Best Editing Best Music/Original Score 14. Entries must not have been exhibited commercially in any theater or television. Entries that have been exhibited in other festivals will not be accepted. 15. UP CINEMA will not be responsible for any legal complaints as a result of the filmmakers use of music and other copyrighted works on the film. The organization will also not be liable for untoward incidents that may occur during the production of the film. 16. Submitted copies of official entries will be the property of UP CINEMA. It is the participants responsibility to keep master copies of their own films. 17. The decision of the Selection Committee and the Board of Judges during the awards night is final.
