UP CLOSE & PERSONAL: Meet Shane Bowen, Medieval Times, Atlanta’s farrier! A farrier is a horse hoof care specialist. Farriers trim and balance horses’ hooves, and also place horseshoes on their hooves, if necessary. Shane has been the Atlanta Castle’s farrier for about six years. He has been shoeing horses for fifteen years. Shane says working with horses is in his blood. Three of his cousins are farriers, and one went to the best shoeing school in the country. When Shane tore his ACL some years ago, his cousin invited him along on some of his farrier visits. Shane’s career took off from there. He is now an AFA (American Farriers Association) certified farrier. He spends his days driving throughout Georgia tending to his four-legged clients. We’re so grateful to have him as part of the Medieval Times family, and we know our horses are, too!
