UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE A statement from my rink company Please allow us to introduce ourselves “we are a leisure consultancy and a provider and operator of seasonal ice rinks throughout the UK and Europe”. Over the past few weeks we have been in regular communication with Terry and have been working behind the scenes to do everything we can to ensure that an ice rink in Grimsby is re-instated as soon as possible. We have remained quite as to our intentions and whilst not in a position to release details at this stage as the rink has been closed for several week now and no answer on it’s future has been forthcoming from the council to date we feel the time is right to break our silence via Terry. As a company we have two objectives, our first objective is to either see the existing rink re-opened or a replacement temporary facility provided. Our secondary objective is to provide Grimsby with a new superior facility for the future following demolition of the existing leisure centre. In the first instance we have approached the council with regard to our taking over operation of the existing rink, carrying out a repair at our cost and re-opening the facility. As time goes on and with details being provided as to the exact condition of the rink and the impending re-development we have began to consider a second option of providing a temporary rink whilst we pursue a permanent rink as a commercial venture. To that end we have sourced a suitable location and already have the necessary plant and equipment at our disposal. At present, our team is seeking to ascertain from the council access to the building to assess for ourselves the viability of the facility from a technical perspective. We are saddened to learn that the council has still not moved forward but we are committed to a future for ice sports in Grimsby and to a significant investment in Grimsby. We will continue to put significant resources into this project. We would ask that you continue to support Terry with the campaign sign the petition and encourage everyone you know to do the same.
