HERE we will Discuss the corruption due to LATINIZATION: You can check this verse in all the languages here: bible.cc/mark/1-2.htm 1) GREEK READING: Here is the proper reading from the AV/King James which is an accurate translation of the Greek which is also used in the Greek Byzantine Bible: Mark 1:2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Greek: Here is one of the various corrupt readings from the NIV Mark 1:2 It is written in Isaiah the prophet: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way-- QUESTION: WHY DOES THE NIV/CODEX SINATICUS/CODEX VATICANUS/JEROMES VULGATE READ ISAIAH INSTEAD OF THE PROPHETS? ****After reading some writings from the Various head Bible Correctors, most prominently Wallace, he says this must be the correct reading because how could they have made this reading up? Where did it come from? There is no explanation therefore the Greeks censored the readings and this must be the true one. ANSWER: The Corruption is due to Latin Tradition copied over into Greek due to Political Influence of Rome. In the Book of Kells the Latin Reads as such...however on closer reading this appears to be Italiac not Latin (per se) Mark 1:2 Sicut scriptorum est iniesia propheta The Vulgate Reads: Mark 1:2 sicut scriptum est in Esaia propheta SCRIPTORUM: In the Book of Kells is Plural. Note that in the Vulgate Scriptum is singular. INIESIA MEANS: to throw on, put on, don / inspire....not ISAIAH. PROPEHTA: Could be (and I would note due to the use of Scriptorum is) Plural...however this is frequently misread by those like Metzger because Propheta is singular in Latin whereas Prophetae is Plural. Not so in Italiac which predated Latin. In Italiac Propheta could be plural based upon context. This word INIESIA is rarely used today, but was used in Italiac and Classical Latin, which period is generally held to have ended in the 3rd Century. Here is the definition of the word from a NOTRE DAME WEBSITE (note this word is hard to find and is not present in most modern latin dictionaries/lexicons) *** iniesia inicio inieci iniectum : to throw on, put on, don / inspire. archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookit.pl?latin=iniesia CONCLUSION: The original reading of the first LATIN Bibles was INIESIA. This translation was mistranslated over the years and misread to read IN ESAIA which means in Isaiah. The Western Catholic Governement Church....being a slave to tradition insisted upon this reading even though the Greeks refused it as it is obviously wrong. Therefore any text with this reading shows involvement with the Western Catholic Church regardless of whether said reading is in Greek or not. NOTE: Note this explanation is extremely consistent with readings in the Vulgate as words are frequently mistranslated and poor renderings given. Greek Text usually reads correct when the script is intact and not censored as say I JOHN 5:7 or Mark 16. Also there is no political or theological reason to censor this text. Likewise other Celtic Bibles read this way.
