Friday Iwok, the member representing Abak State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, the people re-affirmed their support for the Governors Senatorial ambition... ...In another development, despite last week’s endorsement of Governor Akpabio by stakeholders in Abak Federal Constituency to contest the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District election in the National Assembly during the ongoing town hall meeting and constituency briefing held in the area, it appears all is still not well with the plan. Mr. Moses Ekpo, an elder statesman who was first to speak on behalf of the people, told the Governor that the Senate seat which he noted was the turn of Abak Federal Constituency, was however open for contest in the area. He told Akpabio “Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District is open for contest. The contest is open here. But we will not sing our song in a strange land,” he maintained. Others, who spoke, including Barrister Uwemedimo Nwoko, Dr Emmanuel Ukpong, Mr. Victor Udoette and a woman representative in the area, however, reaffirmed their call on the Governor to contest the seat in 2015.
