Umpiregate Scandal & The 4-2 Loss Class of 2014: 1. Brenton Hemelaar (Hammer) co-founder and administrator of the cags 2. Brendan Lichtendonk (F-Bomb Donk) 3. Callum Vanderkley (Son of Pest) 4. Chris De Deuge (Hamper) 5. Ian Sypkes (Shiploads) 6. Joel Taylor (The Bulldozer) 7. Oliver Mensah (Gastro Whisperer) 8. Rowan Dykman (Rowtondo) 9. Sam Loef (Ah-Me-….) 10. Stefan Jago (The Caravan) 11. Shane Brassington (Rusty Cag) ring-in due to Chris and Stefan’s absence So another exciting season kicked off last night in a rare night match under lights against Victorious Secret featuring familiar faces like the Petrusma boys and the Duff boys. The atmosphere was palpable as the cags took the field for the first time in 10 months, hammer’s pre-game exposure of himself will leave some teammates scarred for life though. This would be son of pest’s first match as an official rostered cag, sadly the caravan was a no-show and hamper had to pull out with cagitus. Rusty cag got another opportunity to pull on the cags show for possibly the last time before he leaves to return home to the UK. Now you may recall from the first game in 2013 that a certain umpire had a man crush on Hammer after his stunning efforts in goals in the first few games. The cags including Hammer were given false hope when it appeared that this umpire would be officiating the game. Unfortunately this umpire was transferred to another field and the cags were instead stuck with the Grinch as umpire. The cags were extremely rusty and before the cags could even blink they were down 2-0 early on. The cags defensive structure and technique was a shambles early on and this allowed the opposition to dictate the game on their terms. A heroic tackle deep in defence by Hammer and the butt of Rowtondo saved certain goals and helped keep the cags in the contest. Late in the half, son of pest found space on the right wing and with precision he crossed it to f-bomb who slotted the first for the cags. The cags went into the half down a goal but a storm was brewing and a change of goal keeper as ah-me-back swapped with f-bomb in goals. The second half kicked off and the cags soon let through 2 more goals in quick succession. The game certainly went up a notch when rusty cag bought down a player unintentionally thus receiving a yellow card. A short time later, rust cag legally tackled another play just outside of the box but the umpire had it in for the cags and gave victorious secret a free kick. This fired up f-bomb who had words with the umpire and subsequently copped a yellow card as well. The cags salvaged a little pride late with a great goal by rusty cags as the cags went down 4-2. F-Bomb didn’t need restraining after the game but it is fair to say we have our first enemy in at least three years.
