Uncle Scrooge From the ant to the elephant, to the whale and the mosquito, no animal needs to work to eat. Yes, they must make an effort to get to the food, but they don’t need to work to earn money and pay for food. Only man needs to do this. Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6.26 We can find the reason for this in Eden. In the beginning of everything, man did not have to work to eat either. God had given him every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. and said: Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat... Genesis 2.9,16 But man was not satisfied with all the trees that God had given him, or with all the animals, birds, fish, water, minerals and everything else that could have been found in nature. He wanted the only tree that God did not allow him to touch. He wanted everything for himself. And because he did not know how to respect the limits set by God, for his own good, man took what did not belong to him. And a curse occurred: Cursed is the ground for your sake, in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life... In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread... Genesis 3.17,19 Since then, it has been a great battle over man’s daily bread. Hunger, poverty, destruction of nature, ecological imbalances and violence over a crumb. Notice that this suffering and evil does not exist among animals – except those caused by man himself. But God has provided a solution to this curse. It is called tithe. Returning to God the first ten percent of everything we receive is the new tree that God has planted in this world to put a limit on man’s greed. And so He, purposely, linked the tithe to the cooperation of nature with man again. It’s a kind of reconciliation between the natural elements and the tithe giver. Take a look at how nature will behave with him, emphasizing: I will open the windows of heaven... I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the LORD of hosts. “And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land. Malachi 3.10-12 God wants to restore our condition so that we can live in peace and enjoy our work. Unfortunately, many are not satisfied with ninety percent and keep the other ten as well. They exchange everything for a small tree. They choose to go to war against nature, instead of having its cooperation. Its as if they like to suffer.
